National Aerospace Laboratory NLR - The Netherlands
Drs. Leo Esselman R.A. - Financial Director

The National Aerospace Laboratory NLR has made an effort to further improve the commercial function of the organisation. Bureau BD has supported us in this trajectory with consultancy and a training programme for the commercial team. NLR chose BBD for the job because of their experience in science to business and their activities for a broad variety of research organisations.

Bureau BD has helped NLR to build up knowledge and experience in marketing and sales via the Action Learning Programme. An effective programme in which the participants have worked on life NLR cases.

Because of the Action Learning Programme set up by BBD the NLR commercial team has benefited from BBD experience and practical knowledge in its own environment. This makes things easy to understand and the information accessible.

NLR has succeeded in enabling her commercial function and is ready to reap the benefits of it. Our commercial team is now on full strength

TNO Science and Industry - The Netherlands
Ben Braam - Programme manager Space Science & Ground-based Astronomy

TNO Industry and Science participates in seven international tenders for the GAIA satellite of the European Space Agency ESA. The GAIA mission is set-up to create an extraordinarily precise three-dimensional map of about one billion stars throughout the galaxy and beyond.

TNO has asked Bureau BD to support with four of these tenders. The participation of Bureau BD in the preparation of the tenders was to ensure that TNO took sufficiently care of the commercial aspects.

With BBD we have gathered information on our competitors’ proposals and make a comparison of the pro’s and con’s of the different solutions, we have introduced TNO’s solutions amongst the decision makers at EADS and ESA and asked questions about their demands (as far as allowed in the system of open competition) and in the proposals we have emphasized our strengths and presented solutions for our weaker points.

These activities in combination with technical innovative concepts and clean design, has resulted so far in two contracts for TNO in the GAIA mission. Bureau BD helped TNO with adequate support on the commercial aspects of our proposal efforts in a pleasant and professional manner.
