December 2008 - European premiere ´Orphans of Apollo´

On December 17th the european premiere of Orphans of Apollo took place in Delft. Bureau BD together with the NVR, Space Horizon en Millhouse Photography sponsered this succesful launch of the movie in Europe.

"The documentary film "Orphans of Apollo" is the greatest space story never told. The film tells the extraordinary true story of a small group of entrepreneurs who felt, 'orphaned' by President Nixon's decision to end the NASA Apollo Moon program and the subsequent years of nominal space activity. This band of brothers took matters into their own hands, and commandeered the Russian Mir Space Station.  The rebellious, yet pioneering efforts launched the new commercial Space Revolution. This is the remarkable untold story of the greatest secret in the new space race."

All pictures of the event are taken by Fred Kamphues and availible on his website

June 2008 - Science to Business Community

The quote from George Bernard Shaw reflects the idea behind the Science to Business Expert Group. The S2B Expert Group is an initiative of Bureau BD. We would like to join with experts in the Science to Business Area to further develop this expertise. Sabina Renshof started 6 years ago her Science to Business activities for fundamental research institutes/groups in the Netherlands in the Space research sector. The Dutch governments ask scientific institutes to join with industries to jointly perform research which also should contribute to application oriented research.

We have met researchers in fundamental and applied research, each with their own approach, contacts and beliefs. We also met researchers form industry and business- managers who are not always aligned with academic researchers. For this reason we founded the Science to Business Community (Powered bij LinkedIn). Currently there are 155 members from all over the world and from various organisations and companies. For more information about the observations and goals please look here for more information.

September 2007 - Bureau BD joins commercial agent network

"In order to support the commercial utilisation of the ISS and of other flights opportunities, and to provide a more effective end-to-end service to customers, ESA has set up a network of Commercial Agents in selected market sectors throughout Europe.

The Commercial Agents offer the most important help in developing customers’ initial business ideas into feasible projects. The Commercial Agent in charge of a project will support the customer in the entire process that leads to the submission of the Commercial Proposal to ESA, including helping the customer drafting the Commercial Proposal. Furthermore, the agents will help the customer identifying the required end-to-end services and negotiate the provisions of those services with the Industrial Partners of the Co-operation Agreement.

The Italian company INNOVA has been appointed as the Commercial Agent responsible for the materials and processes market sector. INNOVA coordinates the Europe-wide activities of the following companies in the materials and processes sector: KB&P (Germany), ISS Lab Ruhr GmbH (Germany), Bureau BD (The Netherlands), D’Appolonia (Italy), Centro Sviluppo Materiali (Italy) and the AGT Group (Italy)."
